Putting Faces to the Names: Gary’s Visits Winnipeg

Recently, Ashley, General Manager of Gary’s Towing, along with Sarah from Office Administration & Customer Relations and Jordan, our Hauling Division Coordinator, travelled to Winnipeg, Manitoba for the Manitoba Trucking Expo and, more importantly, to spend time connecting with the people behind the phone calls, emails, and dispatch requests we work with every day.

The trip was never just about attending the Expo. It was about putting faces to the names.

In an industry where so much communication happens over emails, and late night phone calls from the side of the highway, there is something valuable about sitting down across the table from customers, shaking hands, sharing stories, and building relationships beyond the day to day business.

Throughout our time in Winnipeg, we had the opportunity to reconnect with longtime customers while also meeting several new companies and industry professionals. We were welcomed with genuine hospitality everywhere we went. Many of our customers insisted on taking our team out for lunch and dinner during the trip, which quickly became a running joke among our crew, apparently, “just one quick meeting” in Winnipeg usually comes with a full plate of food.

Adding to the experience, Winnipeg was in the middle of a heat wave during our visit, with the warm temperatures sticking around the entire trip. Between customer meetings, dinners, and time spent around the city, a few frozen slushie beverages quickly became a staple of our afternoons. Safe to say, they became less of a luxury and more of a survival strategy by the second day. It was a great reminder that some of the best business conversations happen when you step away from the office, sit down together, and simply enjoy the moment.

To all of our customers who took time out of their schedules to meet with us, thank you. Whether it was a formal meeting, a quick conversation at the Expo, or dinner after a long day, we truly appreciate the time, support, and relationships we continue to build together.

The Manitoba Trucking Expo itself gave us a great opportunity to connect with management teams and industry decision makers from across Manitoba and Western Canada. While the event was smaller than some larger trucking shows, that actually created a more personal atmosphere where meaningful conversations could happen without the noise and rush of larger events.

For our team, those conversations matter.

The transportation industry continues to evolve, and events like these allow us to better understand the challenges carriers, fleets, and logistics companies are facing every day. It also gives us the opportunity to showcase the growth of Gary’s Towing, our expanding Towing and Hauling Divisions, and the emergency response capabilities we continue to build throughout Northwestern Ontario and beyond.

Outside of the Expo, Winnipeg left a strong impression on all of us.

There is a hardworking, welcoming atmosphere throughout the city that feels familiar to those of us from Northwestern Ontario. From the restaurants and local businesses to the people we met throughout the trip, Winnipeg carried a sense of pride and community that made us feel at home.

Trips like these are important to our company because they remind us that this industry is built on relationships first. Equipment, trucks, and technology all matter, but trust, reliability, and communication are what truly keep the wheels turning.

If we were unable to connect with you during this trip, we sincerely apologize. Between meetings, customer visits, and the Expo schedule, the days filled up quickly. That said, Winnipeg is a market and community that is important to us, and we can confidently say this will not be our last visit. We look forward to returning again very soon and continuing the conversations we may have missed this time around.

We are grateful for the opportunity to represent Gary’s Towing in Manitoba, strengthen existing partnerships, and continue creating new ones.

To everyone who welcomed us during our visit to Winnipeg, thank you for your hospitality, your time, and your continued support.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Ashley
General Manager
